When I ask people what stops them from taking music lessons they usually tell me they are afraid they won’t stay interested. And that’s because they are expecting the typical music lesson experience. You know, where the teacher has a method that every student follows, and it starts with really boring scales and drills. I have taught thousands of beginning drummers, guitarists and pianists. I have taught professionals including Chuck Berry’s longtime drummer. I have a knack for diagnosing the issues that are keeping students from progressing and helping them find the solution, and I can make complicated concepts seem simple.

I have over ten years’ experience as a college music instructor in the classroom and in lessons. I have seven years’ experience as director of music at Bishop DuBourg High School where I teach bands, choir, digital music, and beginning guitar, piano, and drums. I have been teaching drum lessons since 1997. I have also performed in at least 3,000 professional engagements as drummer, keyboard-percussionist, and bass guitarist and am a published and award-winning composer.
